Paul Kawata, Executive Director of NMAC, stated th Paul Kawata, Executive Director of NMAC, stated that, “The community must support the White House’s efforts to pass their 2022 budget. The HIV movement has a long legacy of success on Capitol Hill. While we may not always agree on strategy, our effectiveness cannot be denied. However, we should never take it for granted. $670 million is a heavy lift that will take everyone. NMAC is committed to working in multiple coalitions to make this real. We need and will support leaders from the many communities committed to ending HIV”.

“As a BIPOC, HIV definitely affects my community in many ways. Statistics wise, BIPOC are greatly impacted by HIV but what also saddens me is that our community feeds HIV stigma. Even with google available to feed our intellect on what HIV is, I still hear ignorant comments about what people think HIV "looks like." Stigma doesn't heal anyone. I think besides having access to resources & care for people impacted by HIV, our community also needs to spread more empathy. We need to provide safe & inclusive spaces for our youth where they can get the resources, wisdom and support that they need. We need to create policies that don't discriminate against their gender or prohibit them from gaining access to care. We need to create opportunities where youth lead the conversations. We need to dismantle homophobia, transphobia and racism ASAP! We need to fully care about our community and show up to support them. I hope that on this NYHAAD, we encourage our youth who are impacted by HIV to live in their greatness without the fear of judgement or cruelty from this world. Spread more peace. Stop Stigma. Get Tested." - Farah Jeune #NYHAAD #EHE
